Karen is a Mental Health Practitioner who completed her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Sign Language Interpreting and Transliterating from Saint Paul College, A Community and Technical College.  She earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Karen is working towards licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).  Karen has worked as a Sign Language Interpreter for the past eight years in community and educational settings. Prior to interpreting, she provided direct care, and she supervised group homes and day treatment settings for adults with traumatic brain injuries, mental illness, and developmental disabilities. Currently, Karen works as a therapist as part of the School Linked Mental Health and Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs.  Karen is trained in Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP). Karen’s passion lies in working with children and families as they address challenges relating to hearing loss, language and learning challenges, and cultural differences. She focuses on wellness and resiliency.
